TLDR: all the sushi was amazing and fresh. Also very reasonably priced. Omg. This review is for the AYCE lunch. Soooooo good and I will def be back. I can't believe I haven't tried this place sooner! For $26.99 I got an ungodly amount of sushi within the space of 2 hours. Everything was fresh and so so so good as seen in the photos below. They were very prompt with refilling my water lol. I was very pleased that the sushi had minimal rice on the outside. I hate AYCE sushi spots that don't have a good rice to fish ratio. Thats so corny. I will definitely be back for their dinner service with family and friends! I know they will love this sushi spot too!
One of the best Japanese all you can eat spot in Elmhurst ! (I can't think of another )it has becoming more and more pricy but it's just like everything else . I always enjoy my time there whenever I visit . The sushi's are always good and the fish are fresh . Make sure u get the special rolls too because they are all super good ! Volcano roll and dragon roll . Yummmm I can already savor it in my mouth just thinking about it.
My favorite sushi ayce spot in NYC! I love the ayce style instead of traditional buffet that sits out most of the day. You should try the dragon ball because it's just an interesting thing to try. It's essentially just mushed up salmon rolled into a ball and covered with avocado. Everything else is pretty standard sushi that is fresh. Everything comes out quickly and service is simple. Would recommend if you're looking for an ayce sushi spot!
We traveled around NJ and NY and visited many sushi places, but this is our favorite spot. Dine at the Akino sushi buffet that fulfilled our family in 3 round orders of sashimi, appetizers, and sushi rolls. All the dishes we got were fresh and delicious--highly recommended to everyone who loves Sushi.
I remember when this used to a Thai eatery and glad to see a sushi option open up here. Heard good things about it and decided to come here for an early dinner. Surprisingly packed for 4:30pm on a Saturday late afternoon. Tables are tight and spacing isn't the greatest. Understandable as they want to maximize business and patrons. I like that they have the a la carte menu for those who don't want to do buffet. I can't eat like I used to so we opted for a la carte. Food came out quickly with nice presentation. Sushi was good and fresh. I don't mind coming to Elmhurst to have this again but wouldn't go out of my way to dine here. It's decent for families just keep in mind space is tight, including if you sit in the aisle where staff walk back and forth.
Christina... again after some time and returning back, she knows how to take care of her guests. To the SAL NYC Circa 2019 crew, came back for a quick bit with a few friends. Please continue to help support this restaurant. I loved hearing that they opened a store in Flushing as well! I just might stop by on my next visit to NY. To go on about food, I'm actually surprised that we weren't able to eat as much as we used to in the past. lol. Disappointed but still satiated with our portions. Food is always on spot. However I do wish we ate more based on the crazy rise in price. If I remember correctly, 2019 times it was $25++ on AYCE. Now it's basics $53.50 per person. Lord have mercy, Being that I'm a long time customer even moving back to Jersey then Texas then Cali, every time I come back, this is my go to. And to be frank, forever will be. Food wise, my go to orders remains the same... loads of sashimi, Kani Salad, Tempuras, Edamame, anddddd heaps of Sirloin with the grilled Onions. The Unagi Sushi is also amazing. I will be upfront and say that the only thing that really fluctuates from time to time is the Squid Sashimi and Mackerel. Otherwise, Salmon and Tuna is always spot on.
I tried this place for the first time and wasn't too blown away. The signature rolls were yummy and unique and there was an extensive menu to choose from. I went for the dinner all you can eat option ($42.99 per person) and felt like it was a pretty pricy spot. Our seating area was tucked towards the back by a narrow walkway so the ambiance wasn't as nice as having a seat near the front. However, lobster and snow mountains were unique and the kani salad was delicious!
Decided to check out Akino after hearing lots of good things via word of mouth, and can say that it definitely lived up to the hype! The sashimi was decently fresh and high quality for an AYCE place, and I appreciated that the sushi came with both nigiri and sashimi options and that the rice-to-fish ratio of the nigiri was just right such that you didn't fill up too much on rice. The service was attentive, and our orders were delivered quickly. We came on Sunday at 12pm with no reservation, and were able to be seated right away. The space is very clean and casual, and though it initially looked like on the smaller side, there were still a decent number of tables and it didn't feel too crowded. Overall, $44 per person for AYCE on the weekend might feel like a lot, but we were definitely able to get our money's worth and more, so the price was actually very reasonable. They also give a 5% discount if you pay with cash.
The food was brought out to us quickly, and the staff checked in to see if we wanted to place orders and for the last call. The staff answered questions and was very friendly, asking how the food was. The restaurant seemed to have multiple sections of seating, larger than it looked from the front. Around 9 PM on a Friday, there were plenty of customers still dining, but it wasn't loud. - Teriyaki Chicken: thinly sliced, a bit dry, nice flavor - Spicy Salmon Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll: love the crispy bits, and I should have ordered more - Tuna Sashimi: didn't taste fishy - Shrimp Tempura: crispy, and I would have ordered more if I had room - Miso Cod: the flavor was amazing - Pork Katsu: thin, but I liked the flavor - Beef Katsu: thin and wasn't particularly juicy, but I liked the flavor - Chicken Udon Stir-Fried: perfect portion size for all-you-can-eat, lots of veggies
Akino in Elmhurst is a solid spot for all-you-can-eat sushi. One thing that stands out is the small rice portions, which works to its advantage. The sashimi on top of the sushi pieces are decently sized, making each bite feel more balanced and not overly filling on rice. The quality of the fish is also pretty good for an all-you-can-eat place, making it a satisfying option for sushi lovers.
